Callan Bentley is a geology instructor at Northern Virginia Community College’s Annandale Campus. He has also worked extensively in geology education in fouryear college, junior-high, and outdoor-education settings. Bentley is a geoscientist-in-the-park for the Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park and a contributing writer to Geotimes.
Abstract
The author details his experience in using geology field trips to provide hands-on learning for his students and opportunities to assess student learning of key course concepts.
